Pencil Partners with Glendale Elementary School & J.T. Moore Middle School | Volunteer Opportunity

Close to the church, Glendale Spanish Immersion Elementary School and J.T. Moore Middle School are public schools for Pre-Kindergarten through 4th grade and 5th -8th grade students, respectively,  in the neighborhood and across the city.

Through the Pencil Partnership program, Glendale UMC supports these two schools in several ways:

  • Church members and visitors read with and tutor students
  • Sponsors a teacher appreciation lunch during the days prior to the opening of the school year
  • Gathering place for local students and parents for the annual district-wide “Walk to School” each October
  • Site of occasional “Spanish for parents and neighbors” classes offered by teachers
  • Hosted meetings of the parent teacher association
