Gwen Watson (she/her) made it official in worship as she joined our Glendale Family! Giving thanks for her finding us online (while still living in Las Vegas) and choosing us to be her new church home!

From Gwen: “As a third generation Methodist, I attended an African Methodist Episcopal Church growing up. At that time in the Jim Crow South, everything was segregated. Churches were no exception. By the late 1960’s, a faction of the Methodist Church reached out to other denominations to join and become United Methodist, and my family’s church joined the movement.
While working in the North District office of the Desert Southwest Conference of The United Methodist Church, I saw a post on social media of one of Glendale’s outdoor marquee signs on racism go viral, and a Facebook post from Paul Sebastian Gómez touting how he loved this church. So once I moved to Nashville, I decided Glendale UMC would be one of two churches on my list to visit. Like many of you, I never made it to the second church. The welcome message, the friendliness of the congregation, Steven Kyle Adair requesting me to participate in the worship service within three weeks of attending, and the prayer team embracing me in its ministry made me feel I had come home.”
