We at Glendale UMC want you to know that no matter: Where you’ve come from or where you are going; what you believe or what you may doubt; what you are feeling or just not feeling; what you have or don’t have; and no matter who you love – all of who you are is welcomed into this community of faith by a God who loves you and knows you by name.
Your Weekly Note from our Pastor
A couple of weeks ago many of us celebrated Valentine ’s Day. On that day, how many of you sent a Valentine to someone that you hate? If you didn’t, I look forward to seeing you in worship on Sunday! For most of us, doing kind things to people we don’t like doesn’t come easy.
This week’s scripture text tells us to love our enemies and it is a challenging one. In fact, it might be easier if we just skipped over it and jumped ahead to transfiguration Sunday. These past few weeks, however, we have been talking about calling and the truth is that you can’t follow Jesus unless you are willing to face the things that make you uncomfortable and do the things that seem most difficult.
So this week we are going to be truly challenged to put the words of Jesus into action, even when it means we have to do good to those who hate us. If you think this might be a challenge for you, then you definitely need to be at Glendale UMC on Sunday morning at 10am!
